19-Year-Old Choctaw County High School Football Player Caden Yarbrough Died In a Shooting, Leaving Mother and Family Shattered!

A young football player from Weir, Mississippi, Caden Yarbrough, passed away in a shooting on December 31, 2026, at the age of 19.
The incident happened around 11:57 at night on December 31st when police and emergency crews were called out to the Thomas Circle area for reports of a shooting.
Pafford EMS got Caden to the Choctaw County Regional Medical Center as quickly as they could, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to injuries.
The Weir Police Department and the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office are working together on this homicide investigation, and they have already taken one suspect into custody.
Reportedly, that person is being held right now at the Choctaw County Jail while authorities get the formal charges ready.
Caden Yarbrough is survived by his mother, Emmalee, two brothers, friends, and extended family.
Meanwhile, a campaign has been created to help his mother with his funeral services.
Following his tragic demise, his friends and loved ones have expressed their grief over the internet.
Nikki Yarbrough, his aunt, wrote an emotional tribute post, which reads:
Proud of you is an understatement because you had turn things around and was headed to top!!!Yes it hurts but I will continue to trust that My God makes no mistakes!Keep resting nephew and pray I meet you on the other side!!!Heartbreak26💔😭I love you My Caden Yarbrough🙏🏽Rest in peace Yarb😭
Likewise, Dillon penned an eulogy describing him as a kind-hearted, loving, and respectful person. He wrote:
A young man that was kind hearted, loving, respectful, eager to please, always dreaming about the future, and trying to figure out how he could better his situation. Caden was not perfect but he had a close circle of people he loved and if you were fortunate enough to be in it he would do anything in the world for you
So far, the details surrounding Caden’s memorial and funeral services haven’t been published by his family.
During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Caden’s mother, friends, and extended family.
