Brentwood High School Student-Athlete Chethan Babu, 15, Passed Away, Leaving Behind His Parents, Ashok and Nicole!

Gone at 15, but remembered for a lifetime.

Rising baseball talent Chethan Babu tragically passed away on September 14, 2026, following a motorcycle accident, at the age of 15.

He was riding an electric motorcycle along the sidewalk near Old Hickory Boulevard and High Lea Road in Nashville.

As per the Witnesses, he was traveling at speeds between 40 and 50 mph. Just then, he lost control and was thrown from the vehicle, striking a fire hydrant.

Without delay, Chethan was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, but sadly, he passed away.

Metro Nashville Police cited reckless driving and inexperience as factors in the tragic crash.

Chethan Babu Was An Emerging Baseball Talent!

Chethan Babu was a whose career was beginning to take shape.

A member of the Class of 2028 at Brentwood High School in Tennessee, he was actively involved in baseball and cycling.

In baseball, he played as a catcher for the Redbirds Baseball Club and was known for his right-handed batting and throwing abilities.

At just 15 years, he was already gaining visibility among coaches and recruiters.

Additionally, he participated in the Tennessee Interscholastic Cycling League, competing in the 8th Grade A division.

He was placed 31st and 37th in two separate events, which showed his consistent effort and dedication.

Following his passing, students, teachers, and staff at Brentwood High School have come together to honor his memory.

offered a heartfelt tribute, saying:

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of this tragic loss for our BMS & BHS community. Fellowship Bible Church will be hosting a prayer night honoring Chethan Babu.

Dr. Harlin and Mr. Keidel have sent out email communications with more information & resources for our students and families.

Our thoughts are with the Babu family during this time.

Chetan Babu is survived by his loving parents, and , as well as his extended family members.

During this heartbreaking time, Chethan Babu’s parents have requested privacy as they grieve the unimaginable loss of their young son.

Though his journey was tragically cut short, Chetan’s early involvement in sports will be remembered.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Chethan Babu’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
