Community Mourns Saco Little League Board Member Justin Ruth’s Death After Motorcycle Accident

The Saco community is grieving the tragic death of Justin Ruth, a longtime volunteer and leader in Saco Little League, who passed away this past weekend in a motorcycle accident.
Justin devoted countless hours to the Little League program, serving as a board member, umpire, coach, and volunteer at every level.
Whether he was helping with board meetings, organizing tree sale fundraisers, cleaning up fields, or supporting players on game day, Justin made himself an irreplaceable part of the league.
His dedication shaped not only the success of the organization but also the lives of the children and families he supported.
Saco Little League described Justin as a “staple in the community” whose contributions extended far beyond the baseball diamond.
“Justin’s commitment to our organization over the years has been immeasurable, and he will be very missed,” the league .
The news of his death has sent shockwaves throughout southern Maine.
Friends, fellow volunteers, and community members expressed their heartbreak, remembering Justin as a man who always gave back.
“Justin was a dedicated volunteer who gave countless hours to the kids of the community by maintaining the fields, coaching, acting as a board member and umpiring. Always willing to help,” shared Jamie Gagnon.
Jessica Cook echoed that sentiment, writing,
“Justin generously gave his time, energy, and heart to our kids and the entire community. He made a lasting impact, and he will be deeply missed.”
Marc Chappell, who worked closely with Justin in the umpire program, reflected on his guidance and character:
“When I assumed the Umpire in Chief position, he was so helpful in helping me get acclimated to the job. He will be hard to replace. We ask God to hold his hands over his young son, and protect his heart.”
Across social media, dozens of tributes poured in, calling Justin “an asset to the program,” “a joy to be around,” and “a wonderful man who gave so much to the kids in this community.”
Many shared prayers for his family and loved ones during this painful time.
