In the early hours of Monday, October 13, 2026, Victoria Reed was involved in a devastating car accident on her way to class at Michigan Technological University.

The crash took place in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula when her vehicle collided with a truck pulling a trailer.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and worked quickly to extract her from the wrecked car.

Although Victoria was conscious at the scene, she required resuscitation in the ambulance on the way to UP Health System – Marquette.

Victoria is currently in critical condition. Medical teams placed her on a ventilator as she battles severe injuries, including multiple fractures and internal bleeding.

Tragically, doctors had to amputate her left leg due to the extent of the damage.

She has already undergone several surgeries to stabilize her condition and stop internal bleeding.

Victoria’s family remains steadfast in their belief in her strength and resilience.

She’s a fighter. She’s strong, determined, and full of life,” shared her aunt and uncle, Bruce and Julie Kniebbe, in a public update.

“With your help, we can make sure she has every resource she needs to heal and rebuild.”

The medical team continues to monitor her closely. According to an update from October 16, Victoria’s CT scans remain stable, and doctors have begun the slow process of easing her out of sedation.

She has shown small but significant signs of progress, demonstrating the determination that those who know her admire deeply.

Victoria’s accident has deeply moved her community. The Powers Catholic High School Music Department, where she once served as Color Guard Captain, has for support to help her through this difficult time.

Friends, family, and former classmates have also taken to social media to share messages of love and hope.

She’s in the fight of her life,” wrote her cousin, Phillip Hamilton, who confirmed that Victoria remains in a coma with a brain bleed.

“Prayers are welcome, and if anyone cares to donate, her uncle created a GoFundMe to help pay medical costs and cover lodging for her family so they can stay by the hospital.”

Victoria’s journey will be long and challenging, but she is surrounded by unwavering support.

Her family continues to provide updates and express gratitude to everyone who has donated, shared her story, or kept her in their prayers.

For those who wish to help, donations are being accepted through her family’s fundraising page to assist with medical bills and provide accommodations for loved ones staying near the hospital.
