Marc Dunkerly alleges that his son, Brooks, was bullied at Gray Elementary School, but got in trouble when Brooks stood up for himself.

Brooks had to do some write-offs and miss recess and other fun stuff.

School should be a happy and safe place for everyone, but sometimes one person can make it feel scary by being a bully.

Bullying is when someone is mean, hurtful, or scary to another person on purpose, and it happens more than once. It’s not just an argument between friends, but it can be physical, verbal, and social.

If you are being bullied, stay calm, walk away, and report the incident to an adult. Meanwhile, if you see someone being bullied, be an upstander and report it.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected at school. Bullying can be stopped by speaking up and being kind.

A recent incident at Gray Elementary School has prompted parents to question the administration’s approach to handling bullies.

The controversy began when parent Marc Dunkerly took to Facebook to share his son Brooks’s story, alleging that the school punished the victim instead of the aggressor.

According to Dunkerly’s Facebook post, his son has been repeatedly targeted by another student, described as a “notorious problem” on the football team and in school.

The bullying reportedly included physical assaults and the student slapping Brooks on the butt. Dunkerly states that his son stood up for himself each time.

The situation escalated when the school responded by punishing Brooks for his reaction. The consequence included a written assignment, missing recess, and exclusion from other fun activities.

Dunkerly expressed his frustration.

This school seems to have their stuff backwards with bullying. All a reflection of the kid’s home life and his parents.

Gray Elementary School made Brooks write an article on self-control.

Before my kid is punished for responding to a bully, the school needs to contact us. He was sexually assaulted and hit by this kid. What happened to zero tolerance? He will defend himself if y’all can’t protect him!

The story has resonated with many other parents online, garnering significant attention and support. It highlights a common frustration felt by many families.

When a child finally defends themselves against a persistent bully, it is they who end up in trouble, while the instigator faces no consequences.

Nonetheless, parents are left wondering if Gray Elementary will correct its course and start protecting the victims.

This is just not right.
Makes me very angry that my
great grandson is being bullied and harassed at school and nothing has been done about it.
