The Henderson, North Carolina, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Zechariah Israel Turner, a 16-year-old whose life was tragically cut short on October 4, 2026.

Born in Wake County to Angela Brown and Jason Turner, Zechariah grew up surrounded by love and support.
He was known for his vibrant spirit, sense of humor, and the way he brought light into every room he entered.

A viewing will be on Friday, October 17, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Davis-Royster Funeral Service, Inc. in Henderson.
His funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Vance County High School.
Zechariah is survived by his parents, Angela Brown and Jason Turner; his brother, Ezekiel Turner; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Zechariah’s father, Jason Turner, shared an emotional message reflecting his grief, imagining his son’s “race finished earlier than most” and holding onto the hope that Zechariah’s spirit has found peace and purpose beyond this life.
“He embodied gifts that I wish I had but was elated to see in him,” Jason .
Friends and loved ones have flooded social media with tributes.
Phylicia Bullock Kearney remembered babysitting him since birth, him “the little kid brother I never had.”
His friend Beenballin Qua shared a heartfelt message, recalling their time lifting weights, making TikToks, and laughing together.

Family members, including Kelly N. Turner and Cheston Green, have expressed their devastation at losing someone so young to a preventable tragedy.
“This pain hurts all over because we were robbed of years,” Cheston , remembering Zechariah’s humor and curiosity.
The sudden loss of Zechariah has not only shattered the hearts of those closest to him but has also sent a powerful reminder about the consequences of drunk driving.
His story stands as both a tribute to a life filled with promise and a plea for change.
