November is Epilepsy Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. People wear purple to raise awareness of epilepsy and show their support.
Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects the brain and can cause seizures.
A seizure is like a sudden, temporary “electrical storm” in the brain, which can look different for everyone, from a person staring blankly for a few seconds to uncontrollable shaking.
The goal of Epilepsy Awareness Month is to spread knowledge and kindness. Many people with epilepsy face misunderstanding and stigma because their seizures can be frightening to witness.
I cry, I beg, I plead, I pray that one day your seizures will go away. Just when you think the storm has passed, it sneaks back up on you. Oh, so fast with no warning at all.
As I watch my precious child fall, the feeling of despair, thinking this is just not fair.
A Mother’s Public Apology and Promise to Her Son

I’m so sorry for putting you on that football field, however just know that as long as I got breath in my body, I’ll never leave your side.
Jennifer’s message details the frightening reality of watching her son have seizures and the exhausting cycle of medicines, ambulance rides, and doctor appointments.
She urges him to ignore the “whack ass jokes” from other kids and affirms her unwavering support.
Moreover, she knows her son is weak and tired, but she also knows he is tough and will never give up. She needs him to see that he is not fighting this battle alone.
Jennifer ended her post with hashtags like #TeamChris, #EpilepsyWillNeverWin, and #ImHisNumberOneFan, asking the public to send purple hearts and prayers for her son.
The online community has responded in force, flooding the post’s comment section with thousands of purple heart emojis and messages of support for Lil’ Chris and his family.
