My Daughter Was Arrested and Suspended After a Fight at a Sterling High School Softball Game But Then the Other Parents Came Looking for a Second Fight

Last week, Emily Sue Sanchez’s daughter, Elena, found herself at the center of a chaotic incident during a Sterling High School softball game.
What started as a disagreement at the bus stop escalated into a fight at the game and ultimately led to her arrest and suspension.
Emily Sue Sanchez was at work when her cousin called, telling her that Elena had gotten into a fight.
Apparently, she had been the aggressor. Emily Sue Sanchez left work immediately, drove to the game, and spoke with Elena.
Once she felt Elena was okay, Emily Sue Sanchez intended to return to work.
Before Emily Sue Sanchez could walk back inside, her cousin called again.
This time, the police had arrived to arrest Elena. Emily Sue Sanchez rushed to the scene and, fortunately, the officers released her.
The principal then informed Emily Sue Sanchez that Elena would face a three-day suspension.
They headed home so Elena could change, with plans for her cousin to watch her while Emily Sue Sanchez returned to work.
While they were waiting, the situation took a dangerous turn. The parents of the other student involved approached them, demanding that Emily Sue Sanchez “bring our daughter out” so their daughter could get her “one.”
One woman even swung at Emily Sue Sanchez directly.
Emily Sue Sanchez immediately called the police again. Fortunately, they arrived, but the other parent refused to leave the house, so the officers eventually departed without further action.
The experience left Emily Sue Sanchez frustrated and concerned.
Not only was her daughter arrested and suspended for defending herself, but the other parents attempted to provoke a second fight outside the school.
The lack of accountability and the aggressive behavior from adults made an already tense situation even worse.
Emily Sue Sanchez wants to thank the Peoria Police Department for their response during this stressful incident.
She hopes the school administration reviews the handling of the situation to prevent such escalation in the future.
This ordeal serves as a reminder that even a simple disagreement at a school event can spiral out of control when adults lose perspective.
Emily Sue Sanchez’s priority now is supporting Elena and ensuring her safety, both at school and in the community.
