Fred Bond, the beloved Director of Instruction at Stonebridge Golf Club, tragically passed away this past Saturday in a car accident.

Hailing from Russell, Kansas, Fred made Fort Mill, South Carolina, his home, where he dedicated his life to teaching golf, mentoring young players, and sharing his passion for the sport with everyone he met.

Fred attended Russell High School and later studied Botany at Fort Hays State University, but it was on the golf course where he truly left his mark.

At Stonebridge Golf Club, he became known not only as a highly skilled coach but also as a kind, patient, and deeply inspiring mentor.

The club announced his passing with heavy hearts and is planning a memorial service on the driving range to honor his life and legacy.

The outpouring of grief from the community reflects the impact Fred had on countless lives.

Wyeth James Costello him as “a true gentleman, class act, and incredible golf coach,” while Wesley Helms shared how Fred’s encouragement and guidance shaped him both as a golfer and a person.

Barry Churchill expressed gratitude for Fred’s mentorship, noting the profound effect Fred had on his own career through the PGA Teaching program.

Fred’s influence extended far beyond instruction. Stan Sayers, a close friend and mentee, Fred as a mentor, a second father, and a man whose passion for the Lord, his family, and teaching golf defined his life.

“Fred was kind, incredibly intelligent, and had a presence that affected everyone he met,” Stan shared.

Friends, students, and fellow golf professionals remember Fred for his dedication, patience, and unwavering kindness.

He touched the lives of junior players, longtime students, and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting legacy at Stonebridge and within the larger golfing community.

From teaching proper putting techniques to sharing wisdom about life and faith, Fred’s lessons went far beyond the course.

Fred is survived by his wife Sharon, son Doug, daughters Shara and Charity, and grandchildren, all of whom were central to his life and inspiration.

Messages of condolence continue to pour in, highlighting his generosity, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to others.
