16-Year-Old South Fayette High School Junior and Karate Star Christian Gertz Takes His Own Life, Survived By Parents, Stephen and Ann

Christian James Gertz, a beloved Pennsylvania native and junior at South Fayette High School, passed away on October 28, 2026, at an untimely age of 16.
While his family has not yet made a statement regarding the untimely death of Christian Gertz, according to some reports, he took his own life.
Christian Gertz touched the lives of many with his amazing athletic skills and kind nature.

Born on December 25, 2008, Christian Gertz began his athletic journey at a very young age, excelling in multiple sports, including baseball, karate, and football.
He was pursuing his academic journey at South Fayette High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Christian was also a state competition qualifier for the Technology Student Association.
In addition to his academic journey, Christian Gertz achieved the rank of 1st degree black belt in Tang Soo Do at Nam’s Martial Arts Center.
Similarly, Christian Gertz worked at The Steeping Leaf tea bistro on the weekend and volunteered with the Harvest Street Mission.

Christian Gertz was not just a remarkable athlete but also a great son to his parents, Stephen and Ann Gertz.
He was also a loving brother to his siblings, Luke, Oliver ‘Ollie’, and Gwennie.

While very little information about his family is publicly available, as they prefer to maintain a low profile, many of Christian Gertz’s loved ones have shared memories of him and extended their heartfelt condolences to his family.
One wrote:
“From playing baseball, digging holes at the beach, and learning karate, Christian was always there. He knew how to make someones day better instantly. Ill miss this guy.”

“The guy who knew how to light up a room. A great person in heart and soul. You are one of the most creative and talented yet also humble people I have met in my life. I honestly don’t think words can express the impact you left on us. Lots of memories. Fly high, champion.”
Hamsini YuvaA for the late Christian Gertz will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pile.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2026, at 11 AM at Calvary Full Gospel Church, 538 Hickory Grade Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harvest Street Mission and Calvary Full Gospel Church.
