Multi-sport athlete Dr. Ernest C. Winslow of 80 Willey Hill Road in Norwich dies at 97, leaving behind a lasting legacy to his three children.
Dr. Ernest C. Winslow excelled in soccer, basketball, and baseball. He was also a well-known golfer and hunter in his time.
He had a lifelong passion for athletics, which not only shaped his energetic youth, it also inspired many young people to pursue the field of athletics.
Multi-Sport Athlete Dr. Ernest C. Winslow Passes Away, Leaving His Legacy to Three Children!
Dr. Ernest C. Winslow passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 11, 1928, in Corinth, New York, he built a remarkable legacy of service, education, and community impact.
He graduated from Corinth High School in 1945, Union College in 1950, and the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1954.
Dr. Ernest C. Winslo died at the age of 97. (Source: )Later, after college, he served in the United States Army at the Brooklyn Army Terminal from 1955 to 1957 as a Captain, providing dental care to Korean Conflict veterans.
After his military service, he spent eleven years with the New York State Corrections Department as a dentist at the Altona Facility, retiring from the position.
He was involved in harness racing, owning several horses that competed at Saratoga, and operated several businesses, including three ski areas.
Additionally, he earned his instrument rating as a pilot while owning his own small plane.
His life was marked by dedication to family, faith, and the communities he served. With this, he is remembered by many after his last breath.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2026, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Avenue in Corinth, with interment to follow at Corinth Rural Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Bayada Hospice of Norwich and all caregivers who supported him in his final weeks.

- Dr. Winslow is survived by his three children, Lee N. Winslow, Jeffrey N. Winslow, and Lynn A. Howard.
- He was married to Shirley G. Cady on July 24, 1949, and together they lived in Corinth, Malone, Champlain, and Melbourne before settling in Norwich.
