Mr. John Leonard “Coach” Wilson tragically passed away on Thursday.
Mr. Wilson was a graduate of the University of Georgia and received his Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University.
He served his country proudly and was a Sergeant in the United States Army, HHC FASCOM 8th Army. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Rosedale.
Mr. Wilson was a retired teacher and coach of wrestling and football at Red Bud High School in Calhoun, Armuchee, and Model High School.
He loved gardening and plowing with his John Deere Tractor. He also loved camping with his wonderful group of friends, whom he and Donna had met over the years.

According to , Mr. John Leonard “Coach” Wilson, 82, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2026, at a hospital in Rome.
However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Close friends and relatives have poured out their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Wilson’s family, encouraging them to stay strong during this challenging time.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with his pastor, Rev. Mark Butler, officiating.
Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors presented by the Rome American Legion Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service.
Moreover, Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday by 2:30 pm and include John Cathcart, Jr., Chris Cathcart, Billy Jackson, Auston Cathcart, Jacob Cathcart, and Kennith Little.

Wrestling coach John Wilson was married to Donna A. Wilson in 1976.
Sadly, their married life ended after 49 years following the tragic death of John Wilson.
Several relatives have offered their condolences to Donna to stay strong.
Moreover, John’s survivors include his sisters, Sylvia Jackson, of Columbia, South Carolina, and Janice Cathcart, of Winnsboro, South Carolina.
