Michael Grindey was officially announced as the new head football coach at Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School on January 20, 2026.

The announcement was made by Jeremy Ekeler, Chief Administrative Officer, who praised Grindey’s passion, energy, and commitment to building a program.

Michael Grindey is a dedicated educator and coach with a strong background in football and Catholic education.

He studied at the University of Nebraska, where he developed both his academic and athletic foundation.

Likewise, he majored in Exercise Science and came from Chandler, Arizona, having previously attended Creighton University before continuing his athletic and academic journey.

Grindey , beginning all 10 games in each of his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.

He played college football as a linebacker, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall during his senior season.

During his time at Concordia University, Nebraska, he finished his career with 265 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

His junior year was particularly impressive, as he led the team with 89 tackles, ranking sixth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

Grindey also recorded multiple double-digit tackle games, including a career-high 15 tackles against Briar Cliff.

In his senior season, he added leadership responsibilities as captain, contributing 67 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Later, he transitioned into coaching, gaining experience at different levels before being chosen to lead the Pius X program.

His achievements include mentoring student-athletes, building competitive teams, and fostering leadership qualities in young players.

Outside of football, Grindey is a family man who values the support and encouragement of his loved ones.

He has spoken about how the love of Jesus Christ has profoundly impacted his life, guiding both his personal journey and professional mission.
